Logbook

My logbook is a list of things I've done, usually related to outdoor activites and adventures.

  • Inchcailloch
Finally got Carter on the wee ferry (Margaret) over to Inchcailloch for a wander with my mum. We splashed about the water, chasing the minnows and explored the island. Weather was great and we all had a lovely day.
  • Glen Loin Loop
Great day out as usual. Glen Loin Loop at Arrochar, lovely cold day with cracking views.
  • Conic Hill
Wee jaunt up Conic Hill with Jack Pat. Weather wasn't great but we had a good time.
  • 100 mile cycle around Isle of Cumbrae
Great day out as usual. This was our third trip to Cumbrae in 3 years to raise money for the STV Childrens Appeal. I managed 10 laps of the island (100 miles) in just over 7 hours. Excellent film photos by Max.
  • Cycling the Great Glen Way
Some photos from a weekend gravel cycling in the Scottish Highlands.
  • Camping at Loch Ossian (Corrour)
One midge-free night camping on the banks of Loch Ossian, apparently on a bay named "Shaggers Bay".
  • Ben Vorlich (Loch Lomond)
A strangely snowless ascent of Ben Vorlich in January.
  • Kinlochleven to Fort William
Second of three days on the West Highland Way with Eejas, Craig and Grant. The descent into Kinlochleven is brutal.
  • Inveroran to Kinlochleven
Second of three days on the West Highland Way with Eejas, Craig and Grant. The descent into Kinlochleven is brutal.
  • Crianlarich to Inveroran
First of three days on the West Highland Way with Eejas, Craig and Grant. Weather was good, not too warm and the midges were fine. Slight drizzle getting into Inveroran but nothing major.
  • The Pap of Glencoe (Sgorr na Ciche) & Inveroran
Climb of The Pap and a stay at Inveroran with the maw.
  • Rowardennan to Beinglas Farm
Preparation for the West Highland Way with Grant and Stewart.
  • Cycling Milngavie to Balmahah along the West Highland Way
Gravel cycling along the first leg of the West Highland Way
  • Goatfell
Suprised my mum by ferrying over to Arran (where she was staying) for a hike up Goatfell on her 60th birthday.
  • Beinn a'Chlèibh

  • Ben Lui
Polly organised a climb up Ben Lui in support of the STV Children's appeal with some friends and folk from STV.
  • Ben Lui
First time solo ascent up Ben Lui. Boggy and snowy but bloody brilliant.
  • Ben Dorain
Ben Dorain had been on my radar since I first seen it while driving the A82. Great mountain but a roasting hot day.
  • Ben Nevis
Post-lockdown hike up Ben Nevis with my mum.
  • Callandar to Killin

  • Sandwood Bay
After months of Covid restrictions being imposed on Scotland, I managed to escape Glasgow and head up North for a night of wild camping on Sandwood Bay.
